I had a great time in Washington DC, flew in Saturday 2/20/10 and got back in the evening on the 25th. I was able to go to the White House the second day and then walk over to the Washington Monument, the frozen Reflecting Pond, the WWII Monument, the Lincoln Monument, and the Vietnam Wall. During the days after that we walked many times up the hill to the Capitol Building and those buildings surrounding it. I was taken by the old architecture, very reminiscent of Europe— where the architectural heritage came from. I immediately noted the intricacies of the facades, ceilings, etc. and the flowers depicted, as well as the naked bodies, bare chests of women, etc. in the statues around— those would never be allowed today with the prudery of the right wing abounding. It was a busy, busy place with lots going on, a highly recommended place to visit and to come home from. |

I was taken with the flower motif I saw all over DC, mostly in the architecture but other places too, reminding me of the flowers I have doodled my whole life. Cool beans. |
