Rousseau's Painting: Suprised! Storm in the Forest. Something about Hick's painting reminded me of Rousseau's style, which I was quite taken with about 1977-78. This painting could depict the current storm in the peaceable kingdom/forest, or perhaps the storm we have always been in, attempting to find the peaceable kingdom/forest.

Edward Hicks: The Peaceable Kingdom, depicting humans and animals living in harmony. Edward Hicks lived 1780-1849, the goals remain the same all these years later.

Yes, the living will pass to the next, and the old will go on to the beyond, and while we are here we will experience life.- Anonymous

A Lovely Romanian Article: Sorry! Gone...
I found Poupouche on the side of the road in Normandy, December 18, 1964.
It was snowing.
She was only a few days old and had no feathers.
She agreed to come live with us and stayed twelve years.

Her big cage hung on the wall across from my drawing table.
From her perch Poupouche watched me drawing and told me
stories in her own way.

Whenever she wanted, she left her cage and walked around the house to play and talk with everyone.

One day she flew into the woods.  I suspect that an owl from these woods, who used to come see her often, was the cause of her departure.  This owl was a very seductive male with a penetrating and tender glance, alas!

At dusk sometimes, I hear them fly by, hunting mice to feed their little ones.

Every evening I put this book on the windowsill for them to leaf through with their pointed beaks.   -P.R.

11/3/01: People here got back to "normal life" quickly by routing against New York and, now, people in Washington and Arizona may be the only ones routing against New York still. Go Mr. Snappy!
11/4/01: And Mr. snappy does it! The New York Yankees are finally defeated. The underdog prevails, some of the world is right again.
